Colt Starting

The colt starting program will equip your horse to be successful in any discipline you choose. Our program focuses on teaching through trust and clear communication that builds colts' confidence. We'll cover groundwork, saddling and riding at all three gaits. We strive to prepare colts for real world situations. They'll be ridden out and hauled to new environments to create a riding partner able to confidently adapt.
Groundwork Training
$850 per month
30 day minimum
Give your horse a foundation that will last them a life-time. Our groundwork program covers catching, leading, tying, standing for farrier and vet care, trailer loading, and preparation for riding. This basic foundation will help your young horse transition into its riding career with less stress and teach them how to be a problem solver during their most formative years. Older horses who need ground manners addressed welcome as well.
Restarts & Problem Behaviors
$1,000 per month
30 day minimum
We'll take a holistic approach to solving your horse's problems. Most "problem" horses are missing a piece in their foundation and are confused or need help overcoming a bad experience. By going back to the basics, we'll help create a long-term change. It's important to note that some problems stem from physical pain, and no amount of training can cure pain behaviors. We will ask about vet, farrier, chiropractic, and bodywork to help rule out physical causes.
Tune-Ups and Seasoning Green Horses
$1,000 per month
30 day minimum
Great option for green horses or horses who need a refresher course. Focus will be on building a soft, responsive, and strong riding partner that can adapt to new situations. Besides arena work, your horse will be ridden out and exposed to new environments such as trails and shows depending on your goals.
Travel Training
$55 per session (approximately one hour)
Travel fees may apply depending on location
Not able to commit to sending your horse off for training? I will travel to you to assist you and your horse with issues you need help addressing. This can include tune-up rides to prepare your horse for the riding season, lessons with your horse to develop a better partnership, or if you simply want to be more involved in the process and learn along side your horse while addressing specific problems such as trailer loading.
At Otto Equine Services your horse will be cared for and respected as if they were one of our own. For this reason we keep limited horses in training so that we can spend time working on the little things to effect big changes in your horses training. Weekly lessons are included and encouraged in our training package and weekly updates will be given if you're unable to attend.
